Jake
McGuire is known for his striking photos of Washington, D.C. Over
the last 25 years he has taken thousands of pictures of Washington,
creating one of the largest collections of photographs of our Nation's
Capital.
McGuire's photos appear
in corporate and private collections, exhibitions, law and associatons' offices, and are often found in
airline and travel magazines. He has won 11 awards for photography
and photojournalism.
In January of 1989 the Presidential Inaugural Committee commissioned
McGuire to produce a signed, limited edition print of the White House.
The photograph was signed by the President and Vice President and
given to Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, and other notables who performed
at the Inaugural Gala.
In March of 1992 McGuire received an Arts America grant from the United
States Information Agency to give lectures abroad. In April of 1997
LIFE MAGAZINE selected one of McGuire's photos for the cover of a
special edition of LIFE. In January of 2001 and 2004 the Presidential Inaugural
Committee selected his photos for use in the official inaugural programs
and guidebooks.
In 2004, Jake McGuire
joined forces with Twin Lights Publishers to produce a series of coffee table books on major American cities. Over the course of three consequent years, he published five titles of Photograhic Portraits: Washington, DC, Annapolis, MD, Baltimore, MD, Tidewater VA, and the Coast of New England by air. He is currently working on the book of the Chesapeake Bay from air and a children's book on Washington DC, to be released in 2008.
In the fall of 2007, Jake McGuire opened a gallery, The McGuire Collection, featuring Washington, DC fine art photography, coffee table books, notecards, as well as fine art photography of Europe.
